The estimate of regional water consumption as prepared by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) includes water use within the Jeannie (Basin), Normanby (Basin), Stewart (Basin), Lockhart (Basin), Coleman (Basin), Holroyd (Basin), Archer (Basin), Watson (Basin), Wenlock (Basin), Olive-Pascoe (Basin), Ducie (Basin), Jacky Jacky (Basin), Jardine (Basin), Misc other islands (Basin), and Torres Strait Islands (Basin) Surface Water Management Areas
Estimated water consumption is 17,048 ML
Agriculture comprises approximately 67% of total water consumption; Household comprises approximately 20% of total water consumption; Other comprises approximately 12% of total water consumption; Mining and Manufacturing comprise the remainder.
PLEASE NOTE: Regional estimates were derived using survey data designed to produce state- and territory-level estimates, and incorporated data from a range of other sources. The degree of confidence that can be attached to individual regional estimates is variable. In general, the estimates should be used with a moderate degree of confidence.
