Summary of review process for groundwater plans

Final and draft area management plans are reviewed every five years in the Australian Capital Territory , Northern Territory , South Australia , New South Wales , Victoria and some Queensland plans. Western Australia has a review period of seven years. Tasmania currently does not have any management plans in place.

The setting of periods for regular review of groundwater plans is as important as it is for surface water management plans. What is more important in an open monitoring, evaluation and reporting framework is that there is a review and that key learnings from the review are then incorporated into the plans.
