Water Use on Australian Farms, 2004-05 (ABS Cat. No. 4618.0), published in July 2006 provides comprehensive data on the volume of water used for irrigation by crop type and area. Please note that the Water Account, Australia 2004-05, published in November 2006, also contains estimates of Agricultural water use, and that small differences in published data occur as a result of different data sources and compilation methodologies.
